Mount K2, also known as Godwin-Austin, located in Jammu and Kashmir, is the highest mountain peak in India.
The Himalayan Mountains are one of the highest mountains in the world and include many of the highest peaks in the world. Mount Everest is known as Sagarmatha in Nepal and Chomolungma in China and Mount K2 or Godwin-Austin or Chagori in India. Mount Everest has a height of 8,611 meters above sea level. K2 is located in Karakorum, the north-eastern border of the Gilgit-Baltistan region.

The great trigonometric surveyor of British India, Thomas Montgomery, made the first survey of the Karakoram in about the year 1849 and named it as 1 and K2 of the two most famous peaks. K2 is known as Savage Mountain, as its mountain is extremely difficult to measure. K2 is counted among the most dangerous mountains, because every four successful climbers who reach this mountain peak have one death.

Mount Kanchenjunga is located in the border of Nepal and Sikkim (India). The height of this mountain is 8,586 meters above sea level and it is the third highest mountain in the world. Due to having five mountains in Mount Kanchenjunga, it is also known as the ‘Five Treasures of Ice’. The main three mountains of Kanchenjunga lie in the border of India. Mount Kanchenjunga was famous as the highest mountain in the world until the year 1852.

Like the K2, Nanga Parbat is located in the Gilgit-Baltistan region, with elevations of 8,126 m, Gashrbrum 1 or Hid Mountains 8,080 m, Brads Mountains 8,051 m, and Gashrbrum 2 elevations 8,036 m. Although the administration of India does not operate in the Gilgit-Baltistan region, the region is included within the international boundaries of India, as a part of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

On the other hand, Nanda Devi is located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand and the height of this mountain is 7,816. This mountain is counted 23rd in the world. Where Nanda Devi resides, the mountain is the highest and falls completely under the boundary of India. Only specific regions of India are able to reach this mountain.
